Staff
The breadth of experience and depth of expertise
of 1010’s staff are the most important aspects of our ability to
preserve and develop affordable housing. 1010’s diverse staff
includes those with backgrounds that reflect the communities they
serve as well members who have served on various community and
professional boards. This experience gives them an understanding of
participant agencies and stakeholders’ needs.
Development Team
1010 is headed by
Robert M. Buente, Chief
Executive Officer and President. Mr. Buente has over 20 years of management experience in affordable multi-family development, finance and consulting. Prior to joining 1010 Development he was the founder and managing partner of Trafford Associates LLC. Trafford is a real estate consulting and development company focusing on the acquisition, construction and development of affordable multifamily housing communities. Trafford was the project manager/co general partner for planned affordable projects in Bakersfield , San Clemente and Stanton . He is an associate member of the Urban Land Institute where he is vice chair of the Los Angeles District Council’s 2009 Urban Marketplace Committee. Mr. Buente is also a member of the executive board of Rose City Counseling Center , a Pasadena based non profit mental health center.Mr. Buente holds undergradute degrees in English Literature and Journalism from the University of Missouri and an MBA from the University of Southern California
John
Stern, Chief Operating Officer and Vice
President oversees the day-to-day operations. Mr. Stern has worked
for the private and public sector for the past 30 years. Mr. Stern
worked with the Office of Multifamily Housing Assistance
Restructuring, Department of Housing and Urban Development and
oversaw work in 5 states for the analysis and financial
restructuring of Mark to Market (FHA insured, project-based Section
8 multifamily) projects. As an administrator for the Affordable
Housing Program (AHP) and Community Investment Program (CIP), Mr.
Stern oversaw the development of over $400 million to nearly 3,000
housing projects containing over 100,000 for-sale and rental units
throughout the US.
Kelle
Rose, Community Liaison – Ms. Rose creates
resident service plans for new housing developments and identifies
potential social service partners and funding sources. Ms. Rose
conducts outreach programs to communities when new affordable
housing developments are being planned and when completed
developments are accepting applications, primarily through community
meetings. Ms. Rose is
beginning to design community economic development programs for
housing and community residents, and through grant writing has
raised nearly $200,000 for the organization since 2006.
Lena
Lacza has been 1010’s full-charge
Bookkeeper since 1992.
She has many years of experience as a bookkeeper for numerous
nonprofit and church-related organizations, and continues to provide
bookkeeping services to First United
Methodist
Church, the Los Angeles United Methodist
Urban Foundation, and several other groups.
In addition to managing 1010’s organizational finances, she
is also the full-charge bookkeeper for three of 1010’s housing
developments.
